Diary of USA Life
But let me start from the beginning...
There are two type of EATERS in USA
1. Who are eating organic food
2. Who are eating everything If you are street EATER, you are probably eating everywhere, and everything...
Guys, do not eat much, you need to have compassion to the animals you are eating, since im almost sure that some sossages contain Where are you buying your clothes? Ross? you are probably Student, low budget or just moved to USA (nothing personal guys, I'm doing a lot of shopping in kinda shops)
Macy's ? You are middle or upper middle class USA resident, probably with 67.000 up to 120.000 $ gross annual salary. one more think, you are avid coupons hunter, since you know where and when you can buy exact item. when it's 30% and on top of everything, you are giving another discount coupon for extra 20%.
And it's all you need in San Francisco! (my quote)
i realized that it's different to be tourist and local here. When you tourist, you can't actually feel all difficulties living in USA, because you are tourist, and being an Armenian in particular, since if you are Armenian in USA, especially in California means you have at least couple of buddies, who will organize your all needs.
... including BBQ, party, pub crawling and so on.
But imagine, you are move to work and live here... Let me tell you something guys... It's 180 degree flipped world. People are not considering you as a guest, so you can't really expect that they gonna spend a lot of time with you, which is totally understandable because of totally different life style. I used to have relaxed life style in Armenia, and because i worked with Canada (at Macadamian Technologies) i had a a bit shifted working schedule, and taking into consideration that i lived 5 mins on walk from office, i could always sure that i'm not gonna be late. Not in United States. need to noticed though that i was lucky that I'm in SF bay area, which is THE BEST place in entire USA from the logistics and transportation point of view. Really THE BEST.. They have caltrain (which takes me to Bay Area) they have metro or tube or subway (not the Sandwich place with Best Avocado inside :))) ) (as they called it here), cable car, buses, trolley buses, Bart and some other types i never explore. The good thing is that all you need is a Clipper Card...
And all this makes your life easier, but still i need a ride for 20-40 mins by muni transport, after 20-30 mins on Caltrain to get to the Silicon Valley, another 20 mins of walk, and here we go! I'm at work, Exciting , isn't it?
... Overall 60-80 mins , which means i need to wake up early morning to make sure I'm on time. Anyway, it's interesting experience, gonna digging deeper, to see how it works... P.S. - I don't forget that i need to back to the Kardashian Story as i promised on my previous blogpost
I'm in DIA, United airlines waiting for my checking to send my bag, and i was bit surprised that i need to pay 25$ for just one piece (damn it, SouthWestis does the same for free...)
Lady on desk asked me: Cash or Credit Card? And it was a first time when i said cash! Usually, i'm paying with card, but this time was exceptional and lucky one... Lady told me that she is not gonna charge 25$ because cash receive check machine is not working and she can't really print it out :)))) I made a seriously sad and upset face to express how deep i disappointed :)))
And here we go, i'm in LA, California, where people are planting money trees on Beverly Hills, to water them with water from Malibu and spend money in Rodeo Drive (i need to copyright this quote... otherwise Apple or Google will do it :)))) My cousins met me on airport and we went to Sharman Oaks, LA Metro. I will tell you more about LA in my next post...
Next post announcement, how i met Kim Kardashian and Wesley Snipes...
Seriously, there was nothing extra ordinary last days but... 1. We were in Boulder, which was a pretty and nice city, full of students and ladies who are wearing short shorts with boots, weird... They think it's cool :) Well might be that it's cool, but in this case with the same coolness i can dress flippers, tuxedo and hat of native american :)) nobody cares though what you are wearing and nobody gonna tell you what bad taste you have :))
2. The second i'd like, was a boulevard of Boulder city, which reminds me Arbat (in Moscow, Russia), La Rambla (Barcelona, Spain)or Northern avenue (in Yerevan, Armenia). People are walking, enjoying the cool evening (btw: before i used a definition of "cool" to explain people:) now I'm doing step forward or back :)) to add another meaning of the same word to my vocabulary. Groovy!!! (another adopted word from Austin Powers)
3. And the last but not least what happened to us (maybe one of the memorable moments) We were stopped by police!!! But let me start from the beginning. Since it was quite late time and all or almost all shops were closed (FYI: for those who think that USA is 365/24/7) Guys, believe me, Yerevan is a much better; our shops are really 25 hours, and if you need to buy bread or cigarettes you can buy it anytime you need, NOT in United States, we decided to go over the Boulder hills to see how it looks like at the night time, and it was really nice, i should have couple of pictures somewhere stored, so will upload them as soon as i can. And on the way back we made a wrong turn and realized that it's one way road, which is narrow. My friend, not gonna tell his name, since he is very famous guy in Colorado (almost like a Leo Messi from Barcelona FC but in banking sphere :) I know he is gonna read this :)))), (who drove a car), made a "U" turn, to go back. And here we go, my dreams came true, police turned the lights ON, and claim to stop.
... PAUSE, ...sigh, ... Silence, ... The moment of the truth (I was able to hear the breath of everyone) ...Scary
I feel that you are a bit scared as we did, but want to tell you that it was a just my imagination :)))))))))) In reality, it was just a police officer, who approached to us. He politely knock the window, and asked for driving license... my friend, let's call him ARZ (all names are changed :)))) gave a license, and said what it happened accidently, and he apologize. Officer took the license and went back to his car to check the licence.
And imagine. 5 of us are sitting on the car and waiting for results, which look like when you are nervous to hear your name during the Oscar Award.:))) ... Silence, ...Seconds like a years... Suddenly, one of us start to forecast what's gonna happen. I'm not gonna tell her name, because she is a very famous doctor in USA, cardiologist. So, Marie (another fake name), started to shout: Oh, he is such a rat guy, he didn't give a chance to explain, he is so bad, he is gonna to give us a ticket, and maybe even arrest us, for incorrect turn. He is gonna give us a ticket. I'm gonna tell him how bad he is, and how rat he is, he is really YAXQ guy, i hate him. Need to note that only the ladies forcasted how the things gonna happen, while the gentlemen were calm and peaceful...
and he back, while he walked to our car, we were able to hear his steps. Suddenly, he asked me to show my driving license since i was next to the driver. With no losing any second i took a my shotgun, and kill the cop........ (just a joke, I'm just testing your attention to my story, to make sure that you are not sleeping in front of your monitor :))))))) the police officer was a sweetheart.
He just kindly warn us to be more careful next time and he didn't give us any ticket. He is even suggest us to call to insurance and make sure that they send every necessary documents. So polite, so nice, so kind policeman, i never meet respectful and full of compassion police over the world. He even gave us his business card with indication what we did wrong. As far as i know it's possible to give a feedback about: How they work. I would like to give a very positive feedback to this guy, who was so kind to us. We back home happy and full of good memories.
P.S. I'm driving quite good, hopefully, will be the same good in California as it was in Colorado.
